TOCOSH
Grammar Point: Stative Verbs
I like tocosh. Tocosh is a pudding-like dessert from the highlands in Peru. It is prepared from fermented potatoes, corn, or ocas. People call it chuño in Otuzco. Since it has sugar and cinnamon, it tastes good. However, because of its fermented main ingredient, tocosh smells awful! One evening, during my first week here, I was walking in the street when I noticed something smelled really bad. The smell was familiar to me. Then, I saw a group of people sitting and eating─holding disposable dishes─on the sidewalk. Also, I saw a lady with a big plastic bucket─on the floor─selling something. It was tocosh, which I used to eat as a child! Today, I want to thank God for the tocosh I get here from a friend some Wednesdays.
