Los estudiosos del comportamiento humano afirman que cuanto más agradecido uno está por las cosas buenas que tiene en la vida, más feliz es. ¿Estás agradecido por tener a alguien especial en tu vida, quizás tu mejor amigo? ¿Podrías escribir un párrafo hablando de aquella persona y mencionar por qué crees que él o ella es alguien especial? Imagina que dicho párrafo será publicado en una red social, compartido con muchos, y leído por muchos... a la espera de "likes".

 My friend Daniel is an important person in my life. He is 58 years old. He is married to a beautiful woman from Chile, where he lives now. Daniel is retired now, so he does not have to work. In his free time, he does volunteer work. What is it about? He helps people improve their family lives. These people love him because Daniel can listen to others and give good advice. He can understand others' feelings. Also, he has a beautiful personality. Daniel is friendly, patient, fun and really understanding. He is never boring. For example, he can talk about different topics because he likes to read a lot. He is an important person to me because he is my role model and an excellent friend. He does not have children, so he says I am like a son to him. He is like a father to me.

¿Cómo puedes escribir un párrafo como el anterior?

Para escribir un párrafo similar, sería buena idea tener las siguientes preguntas en mente. De esa manera, podrás decidir qué información incluir en el párrafo y cómo organizar dicha información.


¿Cómo usar tales preguntas?

Responde las preguntas en la imagen anterior tomando notas breves. Luego, usa esas notas para escribir un párrafo inicial sobre alguien que es importante para ti. Luego, lee el párrafo y corrígelo. Si gustas, publícalo en la red. ¿Qué crees que pase? Quizás inspires a otros a escribir sobre aquella persona importante en sus vidas.

¿Qué se puede resaltar del párrafo modelo en cuanto a la estructura de sus oraciones?

El párrafo contiene buenos ejemplos del presente simple. Recuerda que el presente simple se usa para hablar de "facts", es decir, de cosas que son ciertas en el presente.
  • My friend Daniel is an important person in my life. / Mi amigo Daniel es una persona importante en mi vida.
  • He's 58 years old. / Él tiene 58 años de edad.
  • He's married to a beautiful woman from Chile. / Él está casado con una hermosa mujer de Chile.
  • Daniel is retired now, so he doesn't have to work. / Daniel está retirado ahora; por ello, él no tiene que trabajar.
  • In his free time, he does volunteer work. / En su tiempo libre, él realiza trabajo voluntario.
  • He helps people improve their family lives. / Él ayuda a las personas a mejorar sus vidas de familia. 
  • These people love him. / Estas personas lo aman.
  • Also, he has a beautiful personality. / También, él tiene una personalidad muy bonita.
  • Daniel is friendly, patient, fun and really understanding. / Daniel es amigable, paciente, divertido y muy comprensivo.
  • He's never boring. / Él nunca es aburrido.
  • He likes to read a lot. / A él le gusta leer bastante.
  • He's an important person to me because he is my role model and an excellent friend. / Él es una persona importante para mí porque él es mi modelo a seguir y es un excelente amigo.
  • He doesn't have children, so he says I'm like a son to him. / Él no tiene hijos; por eso, él dice que yo soy como un hijo para él.
  • He's like a father to me. / Él es como un padre para mí.
El párrafo también tiene buenos ejemplos de cómo usar "can" para hablar sobre habilidades.

  • Daniel can listen to others and give good advice.
  • He can understand others' feelings.
  • For example, he can talk about different topics.
Se usan adjetivos para describir la personalidad de Daniel. Además, se usa "really" como "intensifier", es decir, para dar énfasis a un adjetivo ("understanding") que describe a un sustantivo (Daniel).
  • Daniel is friendly, patient, fun and really understanding. 
  • He's never boring.
Hay buenos ejemplos de "a" y "an" (artículo indefinido) acompañados de "nouns" (sustantivos) en forma singular.
  • My friend Daniel is an important person in my life. 
  • He's married to a beautiful woman from Chile.
  • Also, he has a beautiful personality.
  • He's my role model and an excellent friend.
  • He says I'm like a son to him. He's like a father to me.
También se ve un buen ejemplo de cómo usar "noncount nouns" (sustantivos no contables).
  • Daniel can listen to others and give good advice.
